Clinical Aromatherapy

Clinical Aromatherapy and Massage is a holistic therapy with endless benefits that promotes healing and recovery from illness and complements conventional treatments. The ‘Aroma’ part refers to the use of essential oils, which are applied with a massage technique that improves circulation, flexibility, and reduces stress factors, giving an overall sense of well-being.

A clinical aromatherapist will take time to consider your specific needs on that particular day. Both emotional and physical factors are taken into consideration before a blend is prepared. It is not an over-the-counter, one size fits all product, as there are hundreds of blends and strengths of essential oils that can make the blend unique to you.

Clinical Aromatherapy and Massage can help reduce the pain and discomfort associated with  conditions such as stress headaches and migraines, which can be associated with hormonal cycles. Muscle spasms caused by injury or work-related stress can be eased with gentle manipulation of soft tissues. They can also improve your mood, lift your spirits, and relax and calm the body and mind, which can impact your blood pressure and other medical conditions.

The power of touch has been used from time immemorial; after all, it is the way we hold a baby, touch a loved one’s hand, and stoke the arm of the dying. It is how your physical and emotional receptors work best, and when combined with a beautiful scene, the results can be incredibly powerful.

Reiki

What is Reiki and why do i practice it? As humans it is an automatic assumption that if you cannot feel or see it, it does  not work, exist or a bit ‘woo woo’. I understand that as always having practiced hands on therapy, something ‘hands off’ off working with energy fields was not really my thing ; until I looked into it further and found that in the hospice field I work in, most require it to compliment other therapies and for patients who are unable to tolerate touch.

Working with natural energy , known as ‘universal life energy’, it can be transferred from a Reiki practitioner to a client in one of the most gentle and non-invasive therapies available. It can be used to treat physical, physiological and mental illness, also post-operative and cancer patients, especially during recovery.

I have found with each and everyone of my patients that they have felt the benefits of Reiki during and after the therapy. It is a relaxing and warming experience; some feel a general warmth, like being out on a sunny day, others heat in particular parts of their body, usually areas that need the most energy.

As with any therapy it is beneficial to have a course of treatments, but especially I have found with Reiki as a patient or client may have a physical symptom, low energy, headaches for instance, which is the result of something systemic which will manifest itself during the course of treatments. Aiding lymphatic drainage, detoxifies, rebalancing mental and emotional stress.

Reiki is a truely holistic practice, which I incorporate with my Aromatherpay treatments on request. think of a crystal, it can be seen as an inanimate object or something that provides energy to power a watch….
